Helping Hands

In 1997, a heartfelt desire to make a difference in the lives of area children and families in financial need prompted First Security Credit Union to establish Hearts for Families.

With the mission of bringing hope to individuals and families, Hearts for Families began purchasing cereal to benefit local food pantries. Over 4,000 boxes of cereal later, Hearts for Families has expanded to include food items, clothing, children’s books and basic necessities to help people in the Milwaukee metropolitan area.

Every year more people participate and donate items to help raise money for Hearts for Families. Milliman, First Security Credit Union and Feld, Schumacher & Company sponsor the Hearts for Families Charity Golf Classic annually. These outings raise over $13,000.

Additional fundraisers include Touchdowns for Families, which takes place every fall, and our newest fundraiser is the annual Bowl for Families event sponsored by Graphicolor Printing and First Security Credit Union. The event raises over $4,000 to benefit Hearts for Families.

Hearts for Families has touched many lives, but there are more families that need our help. We continually accept food, clothing and monetary donations. Hearts for Families is staffed by Credit Union employees that volunteer their time and services. This allows for 100% of donations to go to families in need.
